Hokkaido is a big island in the northernmost of Japan. In Hokkaido region, wilderness would welcome tourists as well as brown bears, red-crested white cranes, killer whales and/or squirrels would. Also tourists would be interested in the culture of Ainu, an indigenous people. In addition, many people enjoy various kinds of seafood, meat products and so on.

Tohoku is the northeastern region of Honshu which is the largest island of Japan. In Tohoku region, you are recommended to walk in beautiful mountains and to see rivers and lakes as well as historical sites including temples and castles.

In Chugoku region, there are Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Atomic Bomb Dome. Also there are ancient shrines and the site of a medieval underground silver mine as well as a Kagura theatre where tourists could see Kagura dancing ( a dance performed to the gods to pray ).

Shikoku is the second smallest among main islands of Japan. However Shikoku and its surrounding islets offer old hot springs, old castles and unique landscapes. In addition, Shikoku is famous for Henro, pilgrimage of 88 temples as well as for Udon, wheat flour noodle.

In Kyushu, there are historic places, old shrines, hot springs and active volcanoes. In particular, Okinawa and its surrounding islets, which had been ruled by the Ryukyu Kingdom until A.D.1872, keep the unique culture.
